Things you should know about CAD/CAM
Dec 15, 2022
Digital processes increase the accuracy and predictability of your work. Whether using a zirconia block, or lithium disilicate ceramic, the final work will fit and look great as long as the design is accurate and the milling machine run perfectly when using CAD/CAM.
About CAD/CAM Design Requirements and Quality Standards
What should we pay attention to when using CAD/CAM to design dental prostheses? Hope the following tips will help you:
- Check the design sheet to clarify the doctor's design plan and requirements for the shipment.
- Take the maxillary plane line as a reference to observe whether the overall arch curvature is normal.
- Use the midline as a reference to check whether the long axis of each tooth is correct, pay attention to restoring the high point of the shape, and whether the restoration is in harmony with the adjacent tooth with the same name on the opposite side.
- Rotate the model from the left and right to observe whether the radian of the tooth and the dental arch is reasonable.
- Check the overlay relationship between the upper and lower jaws. The posterior teeth cannot be made into normal jaws. It is better to reverse the jaw than to make the opposite blade jaw, so as to prevent the patient from biting the buccal muscle and avoid porcelain collapse.
- Attention should be paid to reducing the bridge body in the missing area. According to the doctor's design requirements, the relative design should be done in a lateral form or an improved saddle form.
- Simulate forward stretching and lateral movement to check whether there is interference.
- The designed crown should be smooth and flat, without sharp corners, sharp corners, or hanging in the air to prevent porcelain cracking.
- There is space to restore the basic shape of the teeth so that the thickness of the porcelain layer is uniform.
- The thickness of the inner crown should not be less than 0.6mm (the standard is different for reference only, personally think it is better to be a little thicker), and the thickness of the whole zirconium should not be less than 1.0mm, (the normal thickness is 1.5-20mm).
- If there is insufficient space between the jaws, it is necessary to communicate with the doctor to deal with it. If necessary, a reinforcement belt can be used on the lingual side.
- The connecting body area should not be less than 8㎡, and the posterior teeth should not be less than 12㎡.
- Pay special attention to special circumstances.
